Well done to all players who traveled to Barcelona with WWEC

Well done to all who traveled to Barcelona with the WWEC regional squad and special mention to the U15 A squad who won the tournament and now have European Medals. The “A” squad were undefeated through out the tournament meeting Cork Schoolboys League in the final and winning 4-2 on penalties. The U16 squad lost in the ¼ final 1-0 and the U17’s losing on penalties in the same stage. Find all results on www.trofeomediterraneo.com. Donough O Flynn, Liam O Driscoll and Gavin McCarthy were on the victorious “A” WWEC team and coached by Eric McCarthy. Tony Motherway and Jack Barry were on the B squad and won two games out of 5 and got to play the refs! Alan Hayes, John Bailey, Sean Meredith and John Barry were playing with the U16 squad and William Joyce, TJ Kenneally and Fergal Duffy were all on the U17 squad.

 

 

U16’s are League Champions

Coached by John McSweeney, aided by Brian McCarthy at the start of the season are now the league champions. Captained by William Joyce the team has gone throw the whole league undefeated and only conceding 3 goals. This is the first year this group of players  has been together so the challenge was unknown. They started training back in November with Brian McCarthy, then a Cobh Ramblers player helping John McSweeney in training the squad. A number of players from outside the parish joined us, Brian “Bud” Hartnett, Liam Higgins, Colm Porter, Mikey Ho and Ciaran Curtain. The season started with Valley Rangers and we got off to a great start winning 5-0. Then came Clashmore, our first home game of the season winning 2-0. Then we went to Ardmore to play An Gaeltach where once again we won 1-0. We then had a 3-0 win over Brideview. Then with a depleted squad and grinded out a 2-1 win. We then played Cappoquinn under lights our last game of the season drawing 2-2.

Ladies and Soccer Sisters

 

News:

 

The  Soccer sister program is now finished and will be up and running again in a few months. All reports were excellent. The girls enjoyed training and the tournament in Conna. If you would like to know more about the Soccer Sisters, go to the contacts page and ring the Soccer Sisters trainer.

We are sorry to hear that Brendan O Driscoll has suffered a major injury while training with the club. We wish him well in his recuperation period.

 

The pitch was vandalised and now is near fit to be played on.
